The museum is located in the Park Saint Pierre opposite the Town Hall of Calais . This former German Navy command post was built in 1941 and escaped the numerous Allied bombings thanks to a clever camouflage under the cover of trees and ruins .

It's 94 metres long , 14 metres wide in the center and 23 to 32 metres wide at both ends . The walls are 1,5 metres thick .

The MAKO ( Marine Kommando ) bunker after the war .

During the war , the operations carried out from the Marine Kommando bunker constantly troubled Allied shipping in the English Channel and the Straits of Dover.

Admiral DOENITZ visited the MAKO bunker .

The bunker now shows general displays of photos, posters , objects, uniforms and military equipment, but there are also special displays devoted to the Royal Green Jackets Regiment that distinguished itself during the battle of Calais in May 1940 , the life of General De Gaulle , the secrets weapons or the daily life during the German occupation.
